Whoops! I’ve been a little sidetracked working on some awesome new projects for clients (details about that one and more coming soon), and have neglected to follow up on the blog posts I promised you here. The wait is over, and today I’m going to share with you my favorite new CSS Photo Gallery. It is super simple, very lightweight (CSS + HTML only), easy to implement, and customizable, too.  With credentials like that, how could it not be great? Tips & Tricks: CSS3 PIE

In the ongoing battle of the browsers, Internet Explorer, especially IE6, continues to be the thorn in the side of web designers everywhere. The web design industry is constantly evolving and changing for the better; HTML5 and CSS3 are both the newest (and most capable) versions of the web coding languages. Older browsers, and even some modern browsers, do not support these newer versions of code, which limits the abilities of web design. There are various hacks and solutions for this problem, one of which is CSS3 Pie.

Friday Finds: Font Squirrel

Roundup: PowerPoint Designs

Microsoft’s PowerPoint is a program that, for me at least, conjures up bad memories of monotonous High School presentations. Desktop Wallpaper: Spring

Spring is officially here, and the weather could not be more beautiful in Virginia. With the exception of a few spring showers, I have been enjoying the sunlight and cheerful flowers blooming in the garden. Daffodils, seedlings and a leggy spider make up this collection of images, each of which meets my own rigorous background photo criteria.

Food for Thought: Granola

Food is fuel that keeps you going during the work day, and is vital to the design process. It’s difficult to work on an empty stomach, or to disrupt your work flow with constant snack breaks. Easting healthy, filling foods will help keep your belly satisfied and your mind focused.

Today’s recipe is for granola that can be customized to fit your preferences. The granola pictured is a version without the optional fruit or baking chip add-ins; I like to add those later depending on how I’m eating my granola. The recipe is also flexible in terms of the core ingredients- you can use whatever nuts and grains you have on hand in place of the listed ingredients. Read on for the recipe below.

A Typical Day

After reading this post over at Freelance Folder, I was inspired to share with you the details of my typical work day. Although my routine often varies depending on the time of year, I try to stay consistent with my days to promote productivity. If my mind starts to wander I can look at the clock and say ‘Okay, this is what I should be doing right now’ in order to stay on track.
