Today’s find was created for web designers, but is a great tool for anyone involved in launching a new website. Launchlist is a simple one-page website made up of a comprehensive checklist to be completed before a website is published. The site was “born out of frustration” by two Australian designers in need of a solution for formerly inefficient methods of preparing websites for publication. In addition to the practicality of the site, the design is whimsical and well done.
The idea behind Launchlist is simple: all of the necessary steps between design and publication of a website in one easy place. Each item listed is an essential step in preparing for a site to go live and ensuring proper functionality on the web. If any of the steps do not apply to your particular site there is an “N/A” button which will eliminate the unnecessary items. There is also the option of adding up to ten new items to the checklist, as well as convenient links to web validation sites.
A report is generated based on the checked and unchecked items and can be sent to both the client and designer. This keeps both parties updated on the status of the website as the project draws to an end. Partially completed lists serve as a good reminder of what still needs to be done, while finished lists are a good record of the project’s completion.
