Alpacaville, LLC

Agricultral Website + Logo Design + Photography - Deale, MD

Beverly Heiberger is the owner of Quality Calibrations, Inc., another GetCreative designed site. Owning one business and helping her husband run another wasn't enough to keep her from opening her own Alpaca Farm, though. In 2012 they started out with four gorgeous Alpaca ladies, and have grown in strength and numbers ever since. The site showcases the beauty of these creatures with rich photography, and the design is simple but effective. The logo design translates well on business cards and flyers, and the colors coordinate with the natural coloring of the animals. A clever HTML5 + CSS3 photo gallery allows visitors to get a closer look at the Alpaca.

Thomas S. Leebrick, P.C.

Law Firm Website + Photography + SEO - Lynchburg, VA

Tom Leebrick has been practicing law in Lynchburg for many years, but the firm was in need of a new website to represent their business. The client wanted to incorporate his worn leather briefcase in the design, so I took original photos of the briefcase and the building to use on the site. The blues and browns with some gold tones present a professional and approachable practice. Though it is a small site, it allows potential clients to learn the background of the law firm and what services they offer. The overall design includes a simple layout with well-placed gradients and photos to keep the viewer's attention.

Global Explorers, LLC

Travel Guide Website + Blog - Lynchburg, VA

Global Explorers offers guided tours and vacation packages throughout the world. The client moved from a small blog to this complete website, allowing more flexibility in terms of content and design. On the Home page is a sequence of full-screen background images taken around the globe. The site includes an interactive travel map, where viewers can click their desired destination to learn more about trips offered there. Owner Declan Pratt keeps up with the Blog and Photo Gallery pages to showcase the company's latest travels. Online booking is available on the Booking page, with a secure PHP form where all required information can be submitted.

Sarah W. Bell, P.C.

Law Firm Website + Photography + Logo Design + SEO - Lynchburg, VA

Sarah Bell recently left her previous job at a law firm to start her own practice, so a website was a part of her business start-up process. The site's design is professional but warm, with a feminine cranberry color paired together with neutral tans and grays. The background of the site has a subtle diamond pattern that is echoed in the bullet notes within the site's text content. Sarah offers photos and information about her new practice, as well as an impressive list of awards and accomplishments. We visited the new office to get a few headshots, as well as images of the interior and exterior of the building to use within the website.

Bluebird Bath & Beauty

Bath & Beauty Retail Website + E-Commerce + Blog + CMS - Sudbury, MA

This project was a wonderful collaboration with Susan Richards and the four amazing women behind Bluebird Bath & Beauty. The concept was created by Dayrich Enterprises and I executed the site to include an e-commerce shopping cart platform, as well as blog and other informational pages. With so many products, organization and layout were key elements of this design. A double navigation bar allows customers to easily find the products they're looking for. The site is hosted on a secure server for accepting online payments. The client can also modify the site with ease, using a Content Management System (CMS).

Pathology Consultants of Central Virginia, Inc.

Medical Website - Lynchburg, VA

This site was a collaboration with Dayrich Enterprises. As a relatively small website, Pathology Consultants serves as a resource for patients and doctors in the area. Their site offers information about the company, as well as various links and resources for existing and potential clients. To make working with Pathology Consultants even more convenient, we have included a quick and easy contact form on the website, as well as the option for Online Bill Pay. By partnering with Authorize.net, we are able to provide secure payment processing with ease. This project has successfully created a well-designed and informative web presence for a company that had none previously.

Sarah Paige

Acting Coach Website + Logo Design - Brooklyn, NY

Sarah was a referral through Vance Barber, whom she met while working together in New York. Sarah's image for her site was inspired by the bright colors and open layout of Vance's site. With her guidance I developed a bright, cheery design that is not so overwhelming as to be unprofessional. As an actress, I knew that Sarah's name was a key branding element, so I took a modified version of the logo we developed and used it as the background of the site. The Home page features scrolling testimonials using a jQuery slider that allows the text to remain selectable, for the benefit of both viewers and search engines.

Light of Mine Designs

Retail Website + Logo Design + E-Commerce - Lynchburg, VA

This project was my second collaboration with Amy Calandra. The previous design boasted lots of pastels and childhood whimsey; we kept this idea, but added some grown-up texture and layering to better speak to the target audience. Amy’s own tastes and influence can be seen clearly in the results of this collaboration; I love the look and think it fits really well with her product designs. The new website also includes a new logo design, which uses a flowing script font tweaked to include stars, another element from the previous design. The site is hosted on a secure server for accepting online payments and includes an integrated e-commerce storefront.

Plastic Surgery Associates of Lynchburg

Plastic Surgery Website - Lynchburg, VA

This website design was a part of a total marketing transformation for Plastic Surgery Associates. In order to fit in with the rest of their advertising campaign I worked with Dayrich Enterprises to develop a neutral, soothing design for this Flash based website. Tans, browns and creams make up the color palette, which allow the stock photos of models to pop against the neutral background. Fading transitions ease the viewer from page to page, and a pop-up navigation bar keeps the site organized. The before and after photo gallery shows past clients' results, while an interactive contact form allows viewers to get in touch with the company.

The Vintage Junkie

Retail Jewelry Website + E-Commerce - Lynchburg, VA

Amy Calandra is a talented local artist and The Vintage Junkie, a collection of re-purposed vintage jewelry and accessories, is her second business venture. With her eye for design, Amy had a lot of input in the creative production of this website. The soft colors and textured background contribute to the shabby-chic look that was the artist's vision. Many of the graphics in the header of the page are either original creations, or stock illustrations that have been altered significantly. The site is hosted on a secure server for accepting online payments and includes an integrated e-commerce storefront where products are sorted and sold by category.

St. John's Church

Church Website + Logo Design + CMS - Lynchburg, VA

St. John’s is modern parish located in a beautiful church off Rivermont Avenue in Lynchburg’s Historic District. From a new logo to a customized photo gallery, the St. John’s website received a complete makeover. As a site with 20+ pages, St. John’s had a lot of content and some of it needed to be reorganized. Instead of one long navigation menu, there are drop-down tabs for eight core menu items. A Content Management System allows the leaders at St. John's to update the content of the site on their own schedule. Wine red, olive green and a golden yellow are accent colors used throughout this clean white design.

James T. Davis Paint Center

Retail Paint Store Website - Lynchburg, VA

James T. Davis has been a Lynchburg business for more than 70 years. The company has continually evolved into the modern paint resource that it is today, and they needed a website to reflect that. We updated from the previous colors of teal and soft red to brighter and more eye-catching shades of blue with red and white accents. The company offers many products and services, and so the website is built to accommodate a large amount of text and photo content. The FAQ feature allows customers to interact with employees, asking questions and gaining painting tips and tricks. This project was a collaboration with Dayrich Enterprises.

Emily Shaffer

Acting Portfolio Website - New York, NY

Emily’s primary concern for this website was getting her presence out on the web in a way that really represented her as an artist. In fulfilling Emily’s aesthetic I used a subtle but effective textured background pattern layered with a teal and orange color palate. The fonts used for this project were key in pulling the design together. While the two header fonts are very different from each other, they both lend themselves well to a modern design with definite antique tones. A light weight and cross-browser compatible CSS photo gallery shows off Emily's head shots using a hover feature that enlarges each photo upon rollover.

All About Family

Home Care Website + Logo Design + SEO - Richmond, VA

The first step for All About Family was creating a new logo to represent their company. The logo is simple, and true to the company’s compassionate identity. When choosing a color scheme for the site I took a cue from the company's bright and cheerful president, Dianne Inman. A sunny yellow coupled with burnt orange and the burgundy of the logo resulted in a bright website that is far from dull or washed out. For the website layout I chose a bold horizontal navigation bar under a gradient header that incorporated the logo. This along with a gradient footer makes up the foundation of the site, with well placed text, photos, maps and other elements arranged throughout.

Shear Image Salon & Boutique

Hair Salon & Boutique Website - Midlothian, VA

When I met with Shear Image they knew right away the look they were going for in the shop. With a pink and black color scheme in mind, we created a swirly and sophisticated logo for the shop which was met with much enthusiasm. One of the functions this site needed to serve was showcasing new and seasonal products from the boutique. By customizing an open source photo gallery, I was able to integrate a way for the client to add and manage photos of products on their own at any time. With a brief history of the salon on the Home page and profiles of the stylists on the Staff page, the site paints a sweet and accurate portrait of the shop.

Quality Calibrations, Inc.

Pipette Repair & Calibration Website + Logo Design - Deale, MD

Quality Calibrations, Inc. is a company that calibrates and repairs medical equipment for hospitals and universities in the Maryland/D.C. area. While their original site was an industry-appropriate clean, white design, the website needed more organization. By creating lines and boxes to separate text and images we are able to better control the viewer’s eye movement and ensure that no important information would be overlooked. The company's colors, peach and gray, are used strategically as accents to warm up the white background. Both stock and original images were used in the site, and a logo was created for the company.

Central Virginia Neurosurgery

Neurosurgery Website - Lynchburg, VA

Central Virginia Neurosurgery was formerly a part of Centra Health and has recently become an independent practice. To commemorate their independence, we put together a new website for the company. The royal combination of blue and gold gives the design a feeling of maturity and reliability. It was important to the client that they be pictured on the site, to show that they are personally invested in their clients. The design is a balance of professionalism and personalization, to reflect the mission of the company it represents. This website was also built in Flash, and was completed with the cooperation of Dayrich Enterprises.

Vance Julian Barber

Acting Portfolio Website + Photography - New York, NY

As this actor's career advances and evolves, so has his website. This is the second re-design of the website and this time the design reflects the brilliance and energy of Vance's personality. The text-photo overlap in the header was the starting point of the design, which uses bold colors to make a statement. With all of the content reduced to one page, this simple website contains all of the elements necessary to an actor's portfolio. The small photo gallery uses JavaScript to swap out the main photo with smooth transitions. The footer of the page lists contact information and links to Vance's other online ventures, including a podcast and a blog.

People's Blues of Richmond

Band Website + Photography + CMS - Richmond, VA

The People's Blues of Richmond is a wild young rock band causing quite a ruckus in Richmond and beyond. The site is an edgy black white with sharp pops of color that allows the music player at the bottom frame of the page to steal the show. A grunge font for the headlines paired with a sans-serif body font makes the site clean and easy to read, without crossing the line into boring. The large header section with changing images is consistent throughout the site, leaving the middle content area for variable content which the band can update themselves through a Content Management System. A selection of photos on the Media page are courtesy of GetCreative as well.

Baker's Kitchen

Bakery Website + Logo Design - Richmond, VA

Baker’s Kitchen is a Wedding and Special Events Bakery in Richmond, Va. As a wedding photographer in Richmond I had worked with (and sampled cakes from) this bakery numerous times before they came to me for a website. The main target market for Baker’s Kitchen is brides and other event planners, the majority of whom are women. A light and whimsical design with varying shades of blues and yellows was a perfect fit, with white and brown accents to create easy-on-the-eyes contrast. A set of custom-designed photo galleries, to showcase their beautiful cakes, added the finishing touches to the site.

dmfoto

Photography Splash Page Design + Photography - Midlothian, VA

dmfoto uses Flash Templates for their extensive photography websites, and needed an informative landing page for viewers. The splash page is soft and neutral, with a textured background that allows the real emphasis to be on the photos. As a photography company image quality and aesthetics are of high importance. The live splash page uses a rollover effect that shows each image in full color to entice viewers to click through. As the only color before the rollover effects, the logo really pops with contrasting bright red and black. Information below the fold helps increase search engine traffic and keeps clients informed.
